On June 11, 2009, a monument to the outstanding Russian poet of the Silver Age Maximilian Voloshin (1877-1932) was erected on the central embankment of Koktebel.

Since 1917, Maximilian Voloshin lived permanently in Koktebel in a house that he built in the very center of the embankment. At present, it is one of the largest literary and memorial museums of the peninsula.

The date of opening the monument is timed to the 25th anniversary of the opening of the poet's house museum. The sculpture project belongs to Feodosia architect S. Arefieva, the sculptor was the famous sculptor A. Grigoriev. Rostov philanthropist V. Babushkin financed the casting of the sculpture in bronze and presented the village.

A two-meter bronze sculpture is set in front of the poet's house museum. The poet is depicted in a chiton with a staff in his hands - as if he had just returned from a walk in the environs of Koktebel. His eyes are fixed on the poet's house.

The inscription on the tablet on the monument - lines from his poem "Journeyman":

When you realize that a person is born
To melt out of the piece of Necessity and Reason –
the Universe of Freedom and Love –
Then only
You will become a Master.
