St. martyr Fedor Tiron’s church was laid on the place of old Greek wooden church in 1898. Money for the construction was donated by imperator Alexander II himself. The church patron is Fedor Tiron, who was a saint warrior. The church is located not far from A.P. Chehov’s memorial-house and its history is closely connected with the author. A.P. Chehov was conducting negotiations with main architect during the church building. There he got married with Olga Knipper, there requiem service over Chehov was held, after his death in Germany and over his mother Evgenija Jakovlevna in 1919.

In summer 2002 a real miracle happened in the church. The congregation had decorated the church with lily bouquets. Time passed and the bouquets had withered. But surprisingly, on The Nativity Of The Blessed Virgin fresh flowers appeared on shriveled braches. There are St. Fedor Tiron’s icon with his relics and St. icon “Our Lady of the Gate of Dawn” in the church.
